Do you find at the end of a working day that the front and back of the shoulders can be held tight?

Take a breathe in …. Do you notice there is no release through the chest into the front of the shoulder?

Turn your head from left to right gently – are you aware of any restriction in that rotation?

Can you focus on your breathe coming down into the top half of the rib cage?

Take a breathe out …. Notice where your movement starts from as you breathe out.

Does it start from the ribcage sinking in? Is it starting from the shoulders rounding and moving forward?

Do you notice your pelvis is tucked under because you are tightening the lower abdominals?

Working in a more sedentary position – we tend to create more tension around our chest, shoulders, neck, jaw and the back of our head. We are in a safe/clinical environment, we are not having to look around all the time as you would in the wild. No need to check - where the next source of food is or the next enemy.

We lose our spatial awareness.  The awareness of the environment around us.  So we get complacent – we ignore what we feel in our body. It’s an assumption that we are safe.  So then we don’t move the body as much as it has the ability.

Just noticing and sensing how the body moves, whether it feels like it flows, whether there are any little restrictions, will start to give you information on how to resolve that end of the day tension.

That – lack of movement is the Myth of Ageing. #rehab #wellness #health
